First Ultrasound at 6 weeks!

Today we had our first ultrasound and had the age of our little one confirmed as 6 weeks!  That means we got to see the heart beating!!!  Amazing!  Philip was right next to me (a wonderful husband).   Our "bun" is only about the size of a chocolate chip morsel, but already has a strong heartbeat - 100 beats per minute!   Dr. Taylor said that everything looks good and "as it should look" at this point!  Here are some pictures from today, including some snapshots of our Ultrasound!  Is it just me, or does it look like Jesus' bearded-face in our Ultrasound????  He is the one responsible for this blessing after all!

Our next check-up and ultrasound appt is in 4 weeks...

First test results and more...

Great news!  After taking the blood test last Friday and then again this past Monday, we got news that my hormone levels "doubled" (yikes!) over the weekend, which means that everything is progressing as it should be!  And our little bun in the oven is getting stronger!  By now, Ang and Dan know the news and they were so excited!  Actually, Angela screamed, and Danny was in shock! :)  We are trying desperately to get Kelly over here to tell here and get news to Chris and Jenn in PA...believe me, I know how hard it is with busy schedules and long distance!  But they will all know soon enough!  

Our first ultrasound this Friday!  Fingers-crossed for a good report and a first look at what's going on inside my body...

Telling the parents!

Last night and this morning we told our parents the big news!  They are all SO excited!  We told Tom & Mary via a "grandchildren" picture frame with a photo of our "pregnant" test (same as in this posting).  They were excited!  We got to tell my mom and dad at their house...just had them flipping through a photo album of our family's recent beach trip...and the last 4 photos were the same ones in this blog...of the "big day."  Let's just say that there were definitely tears of joy! They are FINALLY going to be grandparents!  :)

I have a very important doctors appt next week to test blood levels and first ultrasound next Friday!!!

August 11th...The big "test"

Well, after a sneaking suspicion that something was up and that my body wasn't quite right...I tested myself...took the ultimate test for a female...4 times to be exact...all were POSITIVE!!!   We weren't expecting this...so crazy...I mean, we weren't really even really trying yet!   But we are PREGNANT!  I think I am still in shock - like it hasn't hit me yet!  Aghh!  So, I am heading to the OBGYN Friday afternoon to confirm.  It is killing me that I haven't told anyone but Philip and my dentist, of all people (I was going to get x-rays otherwise at my appt today, so I had to say something).  Our parents are going to be THRILLED!   We are really excited...so much to take in, but it is slowly becoming reality - we are going to be a "mom and dad" soon!
