Hearing the Baby's Heartbeat!

I had a routine doctors appt. Thursday for my 11-wk check-up...I thought I was just going in for some blood work, etc...but got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time instead! WOW! It was so emotional! Our little one was a little shy at first, and had nested his or herself down in my lower abdomen, but the Doppler finally found it...the little galloping sound of a heartbeat! Very strong at 140 BPM! It was amazing - the first time that I really felt like "hey, there is really someone growing inside my belly!" I also informed my Managers at work about the pregnancy - I am blessed that they were both not only supportive, but excited for Philip and me. We are FINALLY in week 12 - almost finished with the first trimester! We are so excited to begin the journey of the second trimester and everything that is coming up in the next few months!

Basement Issues

Well, we unfortunately did not escape the "Atlanta Flood" without a little damage ourselves. Monday AM we discovered water in the basement...soaking wet carpet from rain water that came underneath the floorboards. We certainly didn't get it as bad as so many others did...we were fortunate, but there is still clean-up and repairs ahead of us. Not fun. Here are a few photos...and a huge thank you to our family that came over to help us Monday...we could have never gotten as far as we did in the clean-up process without you!

Baby's First Football Game!

We made the trip to Athens Saturday to cheer on the Dawgs...I hope that this baby is ready for momma to be yelling a lot this season! Close game, but we pulled out the win! Other than getting a little tired, I felt great all day. Here we are with our good friends Kristy and Christian, getting in a little tailgating before the game. Go Dawgs!

At 8 weeks...

I may not look "prego" yet, but my pants sure are fitting a little snug! :)

In our 8th week

Me and the little one just got back from a 3-night trip to LA...I was out there for work.  The combination of the 3 hour time difference and our little baby - who is the size of a "raspberry" this week I think - plucking all of my energy from me by about 4:00 in the afternoon everyday, well I was pretty tired.

We are telling a few more people as the weeks go by, and everyone is so excited.  We finally got to tell Chris, Jenn, Kelly, and David this past week...they were all so excited to have another addition to the Stanford family - Kelly even cried!  Some of friends know by now too...it is wonderful to have support and excitement from all around us!  Off to Lake Oconee this weekend for Labor Day 2009!
