October Days

As our busy - but blessed - life with our beautiful 7 1/2 month old girl continues to fly by, I decided to start carrying my digital camera in my diaper bag at all times - just trying to make sure I capture as many of these fleeting "everyday" moments on camera as possible..........

Out furniture shopping at an antique store on Saturday...how awesome is this chair??? My big girl looks so tiny...and sitting up all by herself!

But even daddy's feet wouldn't hit the ground. I don't know where we would put something like this, but I loved it!

********

Kinsley got to meet some of the TX family this past weekend when they were here for their annual trip to Atlanta for my dad's birthday! I think that she was passed around the dinner table from loving-arms to loving-arms at least twice!

*********

Kinsley's first time swinging by herself! Pure joy. We have officially added "swing set" to our must-have list.

*********

We are trying to get the hang of this sippy-cup stuff. It is proving to be difficult transition for a baby girl who absolutely, positively LOVES her bottle.

A little pre-Halloween dress-up in Kinsley's costume at the pumpkin lot at church...my little lady bug.

Her laugh always makes us smile!

********

But, come to think of it, every single thing about her makes us smile these days...

A Blessed Baptism

7 Months Old!

Today Kinsley is 7 months old. What??? Where has the time gone? But luckily, we get to "cheat" this month and have a check-up this week at the pediatrician, so I will know her actual height / weight stats come Friday (they have to re-check Kinsley's ears after the recent ear infections). Her cold is still hanging around, but it's almost gone...I think we are at the end of it now...so hopefully there is no sign of any lingering ear issues as well.

This past weekend, Philip flew out on Saturday morning and back on Sunday morning for his cousin's wedding in Las Vegas...yes, you read that correctly...he was out in Vegas for less than 24 hours. Crazy guy. I didn't get to make the trip out there, so after a nice relaxing family night on Friday with the three of us, Kinsley and I had "girl's day" on Saturday...joined later in the afternoon by my mom to do a little shopping...then my dad that evening to grab a dinner out.

But now onto the really important stuff: I actually did what I was determined to do this weekend:

I...MADE...BABY FOOD.

At first, I was so intimidated... "There's no time." "I don't have the right food." "I will do it next weekend." "I can just buy already-jarred food from the store." I had used every excuse to not open the box and just do it. But Sunday, I was determined. So, with a little Michael Buble accompanying me in the background and a glass of Savingnon Blanc, I got to it. And seriously...it was SO easy - this little Beaba BabyCooker has to be one of the most easy-to-use, fantastic inventions ever created for a baby-mama who wants to take a stab at making homemade baby food. And I had a blast doing it. My first round of foods prepared were sweet potatoes, yellow squash, and apples. And the ultimate test: Kinsley. But she has eaten them all so far! I hope that this little girl grows up to love veggies like her mommy! Here's my start-to-finish... Viola!

We also did a size-check on Kinsley's Halloween costume this weekend...it fits! But barely. When did this child start growing like a weed??? She was in NB / 3-mo clothes forever...now, I feel like the 6-mo's are barely fitting her, and the 6-9 mo Ladybug costume is snug, but it fits! Needless to say I will have to avoid throwing it in the dryer - we cannot afford any shrinking! I can also say that I am praying for cool, crisp October weather or my little munchkin is going to be warm in there...this high-80's, summer-like weather over the past couple days has me nervous. Anyway, here are some snapshots from our dress-up session...P-R-E-C-I-O-U-S.

The rest of this week is jam-packed: poor Hunter has surgery tomorrow up in Athens to remove 4 tumors and a tooth...they will hold him there overnight 1-2 nights, and then he will have stitches and will be in an cone collar for 2 weeks. Ugh. This is going to be a challenge.

And in addition to Kinsley's ped appt on Friday, she also has her G.I. appt this Wednesday to re-check her acid reflux since first being diagnosed back at 3 months old. Hopefully, the doctor sees an improvement. We are certainly seeing a difference with regards to her spitting-up (I think the introduction to more solid foods has helped), so fingers-crossed. And finally, we very excited about Sunday - Kinsley is getting Baptized and we are officially becoming members of Dunwoody United Methodist, all at the same service. So special, and we are so excited to be taking this crucial step in strengthening our Faith, and in finding a place where we can connect with other couples in our same stage of life and where Kinsley can grow up as a Child of God!

Our little pumpkin

And so it begins...

One of our first "family traditions" officially started this past weekend about an hour outside of Atlanta at Uncle Shuck's Pumpkin Patch (and corn maze...for when Kins gets a little older). We had planned on doing this for about a month, realizing that the next couple of weekends leading up to Halloween may be a little unpredictable with an out of town family wedding, Hunter's surgery next Tuesday, and Kinsley's Baptism. Although Kinsley was battling yet another cold and her first set of ear infections, we still made the trip since she was in good spirits and the weather was unbelievably beautiful. I love that we are finally doing all of the things that Philip and I talked about doing this time last year, when we were pregnant. I have been busy with our Goody Sales & Marketing Conference this week and it reminded me that it was right around this time last year that we had finally announced to everyone that we were expecting (it was made public to everyone at work during this same conference last Fall), and we were preparing for life to change forever. And now that it has, I couldn't be more excited to be doing all of the things that we said we would do. It's finally Fall, and we are going to soak up every minute of it!

Starting off the afternoon with a family shot outside of the corn maze!

Our little scarecrow!

A quick family shot in the pumpkin patch...Kinsley had little interest in the camera with all those big orange things lying around!

Our giggling little girl with her daddy!

Picking out a pumpkin with mama!

Kinsley's first encounter with a billy goat...she probably thought it was a mini "Hunter."

I loved this..."How tall this Fall?"

Sooooo big!

Giving the "OK" for mommy's pumpkin.

Mom, what's Indian Corn?

Philip making his final walk through the pumpkin patch before we all decided on the one we would take home.

On the way to the car. And you will notice that Philip's is the bigger one, then mine is the middle size, and Kinsley's is the baby pumpkin...too cute.

On the way home...sweet little baby was all tuckered out.

At home...daddy's, mommy's, and Kinsley's pumpkins all together on the front porch.
