...what, you ask? My absolute lack of TIME.
Time eludes me these days. I knew when I went back to work full time in January with two children under the age of three, time would not be something that would be on my side. But man, there really is never enough of it...time, and well...sleep. So much has happened since my last post about Kinsley turning 3! Some good, some bad - but all of it, every bit of the parenting experience.
We had Easter, Spring Break (staycation at home), playdates & birthday parties, sickness (of course), first bites of solids, first teeth being cut, sitting up & rolling over (and over and over!), and sweet moments caught on camera.
Carter turned 6 months at the beginning of April, and just turned 7 months on May 1st! Here are his 6-month stats from his appt back on April 5th (and even as I type this, he is so much bigger now...he's growing waaaay to fast):
- Weight = 19 lbs 10.8 oz (90th percentile)
- Height = 27" (75th percentile)
- Head = 43.4 cm (50th percentile)

He's pretty much perfect in my eyes! He's still such a happy baby, but definitey starting to get what we refer to around here as "opinionated." :) He loves absolutely anything his big sister is doing / singing / saying / playing, he watches her like a hawk and loves when she plays "peek-a-boo" with him or when she sings to him when he's crying (her favorite to sing to him is Rockabye Baby or Twinkle Twinkle). He also loves: being outside, being held or being strapped into the Baby Bjorn, walks in the double stroller, riding in the car, babbling, bouncing in the doorway jumper, putting anything and everything in his mounth including all of my necklaces, and chewing on cloth of any kind (must feel good on his gums). We started him on solids last month, and he loves any pureed fruit (esp. apples, peaches, pears and bananas), the banana-apple flavored rice cereal, carrots and sweet potatoes. He is not loving the other veggies I have tried, like peas and squash. I made my first batch of food and ended up freezing it for a few weeks until he got better with the thicker consistency, but he's been gobbling up my homemade food for two weeks now and loving it! He is eating 2.5 oz of fruit and 2.5 oz of ceral in the mid-morning (after a morning nursing), then I nurse throughout the day, then he gets another 2.5 oz of a vegetable (and sometimes fruit or ceral) at dinner. I am still breastfeeding him (yay, go me!) but he does fine with formula - all 8 oz of it - from a bottle when I am not around. I even still get to nurse him at school. He is loving his little daycare class with just him and one other baby, Owen, who is 6 weeks younger. He is showing no signs on crawing yet, which is perfectly fine with me! I love this sweet, silly, curious, yet semi-stationary stage! He rolls over all the time (first time back and forth was March 21st) , is sleeping on his tummy, and is now sitting up on his own, but can fall over or fling himself backwards without a moments notice so you have to sit right with him. He broke his two bottom teeth through two weeks ago (first tooth was April 22nd)! Crazy! Carter is also sleeping throughout the night now (except for the few nights that those teeth were coming in), going from about 7:30pm to 6 / 6:30 in the morning. Ahhhhh...I waited many months for that!
...[Okay, I have to interupt this post to log in the blog that I just broke away and purchased 2 Justin Timberlake tickets to his concert in Atlanta on December 17, 2013. YES!!! Kinsley and Carter will read this someday and think either a) "wow, our mom was so cool back in the day!" or b) "justin who?"]...
Back to the update...
Kinsley is just my sweet little girl. So big. There are times I look at her and just think, my gosh, where has time gone and when did she turn into a girl from a baby. She has been officially accepted into NDA's PreK-3 class and will start as a real student - uniform and all - this Fall. Wow. And she is all girl - loves all things princess-y and pink...she plays with some old empty make-up containers of mine and loves to play pretend, especially with food. She still gives doctor check-ups and also now loves taking food orders like a waitress on a notepad - so funny! She doen't know a stranger (which is a good and a bad thing). She sings nonstop, loves reading stories at bedtime, loves swimming in the pool (the indoor pool durig the Winter at Marist), loves school, her friends, her family, soccer, bubbles, painting, drawing, glitter gluing anything, playing "You Can't Catch Me!!!" and Hide & Seek, and she gives the BEST kisses and hugs ever. She and I went to Disney On Ice this past Sunday & out to Taco Mac for dinner together afterwards just the two of us - a mommy-daughter date...so much fun - she is such a little person now! And she loves her brother, always helping me with him, always wondering where he is and if he's okay. I simply could not ask for more - we have been blessed with two pretty great kiddos.
Here is a look back over the past month and a half with my babies...excluding Easter - those photos are on the "nice camera" and will have to be a follow-up post!

At CHOA in the waiting room, wearing her facemask and even put one on George so he wouldn't get sick. Her 104-105 fever ended up being the flu. It was awful. But we managed to keep mommy, daddy and Carter from getting it. Let's just say a LOT of Lysol spray and Clorox wipes were used. |
