My last pregnant belly shot...at 34 weeks and 6 days.
My hospital room in "high-risk" with a visit from mom and dad. We had lots of visits in our time there from family and friends.
In our hospital room with both families awaiting our move down to pre-op for the c-section.
A last kiss for good luck in pre-op from my sweet hubby before everything really starting moving quickly.
A last moment with my mom before the c-section.
Philip in his scrubs and me ready to roll, and already very loopy feeling from the epidural. We literally were wheeled out of the room to surgery following this photo.
Welcome to the world baby girl! Kinsley Elizabeth arrived at 5:29pm on March 11, 2010 weighing 5 lbs 2 oz and 17.5" long.
I wanted to hold her so badly, but at least I got to touch her sweet face while still on the operating table. Even at 35 weeks, she had her eyes wide open following delivery...it was the most beautiful site I have ever seen.

We didn't get to take Kinsley back to our hospital room after delivery...instead, we made our first visit together as a couple down to NICU to see our sweet baby girl at 5:30 the morning following her delivery because I had to wait 12 hours after of the c-section.
This was my first time holding Kinsley...you cannot imagine how hard it was to hold her and not be able to see her face fully. She was hooked up to the C-Pap, heart monitor, oxygen monitor, breathing monitor, and feeding tube...my heart sank. This image of her still brings tears to my eyes.

Outside our room at Northside.
A few of the many flowers, cards, etc. that we received from incredibly caring family and friends.
I would be so exhausted, that I fell asleep at her bedside in NICU...Philip captured the moment on camera.
We got used to watching this monitor. It was almost consuming.

This was a big day and a happy moment...saying good-bye to Kinsley's NICU hospital bed from the critical care 2nd floor and moving up to a "crib" on the 7th floor NICU.

Skin to skin...my favorite time of day.
Hi baby girl! No more c-pap and just using her feeding tube until she could learn to suck / swallow / breath on her own while eating.

Time with daddy!

Finishing her first bottle with mommy in NICU...and getting closer to going home!
Daddy feeding her a bottle...one happy girl!
Safe in daddy's hands.
Another big move...weening Kinsley off her feeding tube - look, nothing in her nose or mouth! All we needed was 48 hours with no tube feeding and her taking feedings from breast / bottle and we could go home. It wouldn't be long now!
Stacy - thank you for sharing all of these wonderful photos of Kinsley's first 2 weeks. She is a trooper and SO SO cute. I can't wait to meet her in person! My favorite pic is the skin to skin - you look so natural as a mommy. Your first time holding her brought tears to my eyes too, but I'm so glad she's healthy and home now. Good work Mom and Dad!!
ReplyDeleteSee you soon! Jen and Hal
