Job Change

Today marks a big change in the daily routine of our household. Today, I parted ways with the company I have been at since I graduated from college...for exactly 9 years & 1 month, to the day. I had a fantastic team lunch yesterday, received beautiful words of encouragement from colleagues, drove the familiar route towards Sandy Springs this morning, had a packed day of final meetings, then packed up my desk area, shut down my computer for the last time, and turned in my equipment to HR. That was really the first time the uncontrollable tears occurred. You know, the kind of cry that could reach the point of no return if you even try to open your mouth to talk, or if someone hugs you. But the tears lasted only for a moment, and then the excitement of what lies ahead finally sank in, and I smiled on my way out of the glass doors of our building.

So as I sit here and type this, I am no longer an employee of Newell Rubbermaid. So strange. Actually, I am not really an employee of anyone right now...I am in-between jobs, thankfully, due to a few days off...and starting next Thursday, I will head out on my new ADVENTURE! Two weeks ago, I accepted the position of Advancement Director at Notre Dame Academy, a small private Catholic school, PreK-3 through 8th Grade, located just a mere 8 minutes from our house in Duluth. I cannot wait to get started, learning and executing my role in the areas of Marketing / Fundraising / Special Events. Impacting students every single day. Being an integral part of a team that is building a better school, one that Kinsley will attend someday. In addition, I will be working more flexible hours...cutting my commute more-than-in-half...taking Kinsley with me each morning (faculty daycare on site) and home with me each afternoon...working summer hours...having vacation days with my family, every time school is out for a holiday...and all of this hopefully leading to a better work-life balance, the kind of balance that all working-mom's strive for.

I cannot think of a better opportunity. I can't wait to get started writing the next chapter of my...our...life.
