One and a Half

Back on Sunday, September 11th, when the world was reflecting on what happened to our nation ten years ago, our family was also celebrating life, as our little girl turned a year and a half. It's been eighteen months since her birth-day. I remember when I used to think that 18 months seemed like it was so far away...and now it has passed and we are halfway through year two.

If you have read my previous post, then you know that things have been a little hectic around here, so this post is a little late. But I had to make sure that I captured some of the great things that are going on at the 18 month milestone.

We just started her in the church nursery two Sunday's ago so mommy and daddy can start regularly attending church again (and not be confined to the "cry room"). It was been great getting back into a Sunday routine again, and Kins, or course, did great - no tears, and pretty much just thought it was a social hour each time. We'll see if we can keep this up.

We are also enrolled in the full Fall session of The Music Class...she had so much fun this summer in the short session, and she has taken such a liking to her Music Class songs, that we just had to do it again! Added bonus is that her friend Eloise is taking the class as well! They are too cute together.

Kinsley's favorite things to do right now include playing with BUBBLES (ba-ba's) and COLORING (calla) with jumbo crayons, and anything with balls...particularly tennis balls and soccer balls. So far, she is just not interested in her stuffed animals and baby dolls. Thinking that she might be an athlete someday??? In fact, her stats are still impressive to me...at her 18mo ped appt this past Monday, she is tracking in the exact percentiles that she was in at the 15mo...
  • Weight = 25.8 lbs (50th percentile)
  • Height = 32 5/8" (50-75th percentile)
  • Head = 50cm (97th percentile)
She is still also an expert at showing you her belly button and giving people "five's" (and sometimes a "high five" if you're lucky)! She continues to RUN and CLIMB on just about EVERYTHING...in fact, we now have 6...count 'em SIX...baby gates installed in our house.

One other thing that keeps me laughing has to do with her daily container of YoBaby organic yogurt...every day, for as long as I can remember, Kinsley has yogurt as her afternoon snack. Every single day. And lately, she wants to not only try to feed herself part of the time (which turns out a bit messy), but we also rinse out the container once she is done and she pretends for about the next hour or so that she is eating imaginary yogurt. Playing pretend...just another sign that she is getting older!

We also made a big move last weekend and turned her car seat around...Philip has some photos on his phone. She is so cute, facing forward like a big girl. I now think that forward-facing is actually dangerous for the driver...I keep wanting to look back there at her, but mommy needs to keep my eyes on the road!!!

So far, this Fall has been busy, but this is such a great time of year...football, cooler weather, the smell of pumpkin spice in the air (thanks to Starbuck's latte's and our Yankee candle that burns every evening). Can't wait to see what October has in store! So as we head into Fall, here are a few final photos from our great summer...and even some leftover ones from the beach (and these aren't even the good ones...so Uncle Danny, if you are reading this, I still need them off of your camera)!

What we refer to as "the Kinsley Kiss"...

Sweet little sandy feet.

Moments with her daddy.

The fountains at Rosemary Beach.

Loves her tutu's.

Making a wish in the fountain with Aunt Angela.

Pool time!

Relaxing with her papa...

...and napping with her papa.

Beach babe...

Big girl at The Back Porch in Destin.

Kelly's Bachelorette Weekend at the end of August.

A pre-Halloween sneak peek at our little Minnie Mouse!

Had to put this photo in here...daddy very patiently taught mommy how to slalom ski on one of the last warm lake days of the summer! A proud moment - for both of us!

Having lunch up at the lake!

Kinsley's first Marist game of the 2011 season...and she's running onto the field for, you guessed it, the footballs.

Ready to drive!

Um, not yet...
